Vedic Maths Founder

Vedic Maths was discovered by Shri Bharti Krishna Tiratha who is also called Father of Vedic Maths. He wrote a book by the name of Vedic Mathematics. It contains Vedic Sutras or also called as Formulas which are short cut tricks and techniques in Maths Arithmetic Calculations. These techniques have been used by students all over the world.

Early Age

Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Bharati Krishna Tirtha was an Hindu Monk and born in Puri , Orrisa 14 March 1884. He was born in a Tamil Brahmin family. His real name was Venkataraman Shastri. He gained his popularity from his book on Vedic Mathematics.

Education

He did his studies from National College at Trichinopoly. He then joined Church Missionaty Society College, thereby Hindu College at Tirunalveli. In 1899 he cleared his matric exams from Madras University.

He was very good at Sanskrit Language. Madras Sanskrit Association gave him the title “ Sarasvati” at the age of 16. He passed his BA exam in 1902 when he was 18 years old. In 1903 he appeared for MA exam from the Mumbai Center of Americal College of Sciences, Rochester , New York. At the age of just twenty he passed M.A. Examination in further seven subjects simultaneously securing the highest honours in all, which is perhaps the all-time record of academic brilliance. His subjects included Sanskrit, Philosophy, English, Mathematics, History and Science. In 1908 he was made first Principal of the newly started National College at Rajmahendri, a post he held for three years. 

How did Venkataraman got the title Swami Bharati Krishna Tirtha

In 1911 he went to Sringeri Math. He had spent eight years for the study of Advaita Vedanta and Shastras. He taught Sanskrit and philosophy at different schools and ashrams.He also gave guest leactures at several institutions in Maharashtra. After his sudy of Advaita Vedanta and Shastras, on 4 July 1919 he got the title “ Swami Bharati Krishna Tirtha”  from Jagadguru Shankaracharya Trivikrama Tirtha

His Achievements

• Madras Sanskrit Association gave him the title “Sarasvati” at the age of 16.

• After his study of Advaita Vedanta and Shastras, on 4 July 1919 he got the title “Swami Bharati Krishna Tirtha” from Jagadguru Shankaracharya Trivikrama Tirtha.

• He was made Shankaracharya of Govardhan Math in 1925.

• He also headed National College at Rajamahendri for some time.

How did he learn these skills in Maths and wrote a book on Vedic Mathematics

Bharti Krishna Tiratha was good in maths, science, humanities and Sanskrit since his early education. He claimed that his studying the Vedas of Hindu Scriptures helped him develop the skill in maths and also wrote a book on Vedic Mathematics.

Contribution of Bharti Krishna Tiratha to Vedic Mathematics

Vedic Maths was traditionally taught through aphorisms or Sutras. Sutras are a thread of knowledge or we can call them a theorem. In layman terms, it is the mathematical formula for faster calculations. Aphorisms of Vedic Maths and aphorisms of Sanskrit as contained in Panini’s Ashtadhyayi. Both Vedic maths and Sanskrit are built in the foundations of logic and understanding of how the mind works. Bharati Krishna wrote sixteen volumes on Vedic Mathematics, one on each Sutra, but the manuscripts were irretrievably lost. He said that he would rewrite them from memory but owing to ill-health and failing eyesight got no further than writing a book intended as an introduction to the sixteen volumes. That book "Vedic Mathematics", written with the aid of an amanuensis, is currently available and is the only surviving work on mathematics by this most remarkable man before he attained mahasamadhi in 1960.

Vedic Mathematics

It is unique system based on rules which help in solving mathematical problems in an easy and quick way. It has helped students across the world in scoring higher marks in math exams and math Olympiads and everyday life. It has the time saving techniques through the various short cut tricks and techniques which help in faster calculations. In Vedic Maths there are sixteen sutras or formulae and about thirtheen sub-sutras. Since he wrote the books on Vedic maths and gave benefit of vedic maths to the whole world, he is called father of vedic maths.

Swami Bharti Krishna Tiratha  is the father of vedic maths.  The book written by him has benefitted millions of learners across the world. Students from the age of 8 years upto the age of 80 can learn vedic maths. Children learn for competitive exams and scoring high in school maths.
